All-Digital X-Rays
A clear picture of your teeth, jaws, and other oral structures is a must for planning any kind of oral surgery. That’s why X-rays are such an important part of the process. But instead of the traditional radiography that has been used for decades, our oral surgery office takes digital X-rays, which tend to be much clearer and can be altered to highlight important areas. Compared to regular X-rays, traditional X-rays emit less radiation and are overall safer to use.
3D Cone Beam Imaging
Regular X-rays aren’t always enough to gather all of the information we need for planning your oral surgery. For many of our services, such as implant placement, we’ll have to employ 3D cone beam imaging. Instead of just taking a picture of the mouth from one angle, we create a digital model of all of your dental structures, allowing us to plan the procedure down to the smallest detail. The process is painless and noninvasive, and no radiation will remain in your body after the examination.
3D Printed Surgical Guide
Traditionally, surgical guides can take several weeks to fabricate off-site to prepare for implant placement. However, at Oral & Facial Surgery Center of Virginia, we can create our own 3D printed surgical guides potentially on the same day as your consultation. This not only allows us to be more efficient and speed up the treatment process, but it also ensures a more precise surgical guide, which means fewer complications from the procedure and better results for your smile.
Intraoral Scanner
With normal impressions, there is too much room for human error and inaccuracy. Rather than rely on old-fashioned putty impressions, we take advantage of an intraoral scanner. This digital technology feels much more comfortable in your mouth; plus, it provides us with a 3D model of your upper and lower arches for our CAD/CAM software within minutes. As a result, we can begin planning your procedure right away and have confidence in the accuracy of the data.
